1 Thessalonians 5:8

¹²The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the deeds of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light. ¹³Let’s walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy.

¹³Therefore prepare your minds for action.^[+] Be sober, and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ—

¹¹Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

¹⁷He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head. He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a mantle.

³⁵Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward. ³⁶For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

¹⁹This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil,

¹³But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love.

⁵You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,

²through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of God. ³Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; ⁴and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; ⁵and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

²³“Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book! ²⁴That with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever! ²⁵But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth. ²⁶After my skin is destroyed, then I will see God in my flesh, ²⁷whom I, even I, will see on my side. My eyes will see, and not as a stranger. “My heart is consumed within me.
