1 Kings 12:8

²⁰Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end.

⁸But he abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.

¹⁵Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet who said to him, “Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of your hand?”

¹⁶As he talked with him, the king said to him, “Have we made you one of the king’s counselors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped, and said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

²to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding; ³to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; ⁴to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man— ⁵that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel;

²A wise man’s heart is at his right hand, but a fool’s heart at his left. ³Yes also when the fool walks by the way, his understanding fails him, and he says to everyone that he is a fool.

¹²As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover to an obedient ear.

³⁰They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.

²⁵but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;
