Proverbs 25:12

⁵Let the righteous strike me, it is kindness; let him reprove me, it is like oil on the head; don’t let my head refuse it; Yet my prayer is always against evil deeds.

³¹The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise. ³²He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.

⁸Don’t reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise person, and he will love you.

⁵A fool despises his father’s correction, but he who heeds reproof shows prudence.

⁵Better is open rebuke than hidden love. ⁶The wounds of a friend are faithful, although the kisses of an enemy are profuse.

⁸My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching; ⁹for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.

³¹that this shall be no grief to you, nor offense of heart to my lord, either that you have shed blood without cause, or that my lord has avenged himself. When the LORD has dealt well with my lord, then remember your servant.”

³²David said to Abigail, “Blessed is the LORD, the God of Israel, who sent you today to meet me! ³³Blessed is your discretion, and blessed are you, who have kept me today from blood guiltiness, and from avenging myself with my own hand. ³⁴For indeed, as the LORD the God of Israel lives, who has withheld me from harming you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, surely there wouldn’t have been left to Nabal by the morning light so much as one who urinates on a wall.”

¹¹Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been of his acquaintance before, came to him and ate bread with him in his house. They comforted him, and consoled him concerning all the evil that the LORD had brought on him. Everyone also gave him a piece of money,^[+] and everyone a ring of gold.

¹²The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD has made even both of them.
