1 Corinthians 9:20

³Paul wanted to have him go out with him, and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.

¹⁸But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

²⁰They, when they heard it, glorified God. They said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the law. ²¹They have been informed about you, that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children and not to walk after the customs. ²²What then? The assembly must certainly meet, for they will hear that you have come. ²³Therefore do what we tell you. We have four men who have taken a vow. ²⁴Take them and purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses for them, that they may shave their heads. Then all will know that there is no truth in the things that they have been informed about you, but that you yourself also walk keeping the law. ²⁵But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written our decision that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from food offered to idols, from blood, from strangled things, and from sexual immorality.”

²⁶Then Paul took the men, and the next day purified himself and went with them into the temple, declaring the fulfillment of the days of purification, until the offering was offered for every one of them.

²Paul, as was his custom, went in to them; and for three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures, ³explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.”

⁵that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as children.

²¹Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, don’t you listen to the law?

¹⁸Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers,^[+] and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.

¹⁹Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.

¹⁴if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh, and may save some of them.

¹⁴For sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace.

¹⁵What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!
