Romans 9:8

WEB

8That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as heirs.

KJV

8That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

BSB

8[+] So it is not the children of the flesh who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as offspring.

FBV

8[+] so it's not Abraham's actual children who are counted as God's children, but only those children of God's promise who are considered his true descendants.

John 1:13

13who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Romans 4:11-16

11He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they might be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be accounted to them. 12He is the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.

13For the promise to Abraham and to his offspring that he would be heir of the world wasn’t through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect. 15For the law produces wrath; for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.

16For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the offspring, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

Galatians 3:26-29

26For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.

Romans 8:14

14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.

Galatians 4:22-31

22For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant, and one by the free woman. 23However, the son by the servant was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise. 24These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to bondage, which is Hagar. 25For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to the Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in bondage with her children. 26But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all. 27For it is written, Rejoice, you barren who don’t bear. Break out and shout, you who don’t travail. For the desolate women have more children than her who has a husband.”

28Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise. 29But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now. 30However, what does the Scripture say? “Throw out the servant and her son, for the son of the servant will not inherit with the son of the free woman.”31So then, brothers, we are not children of a servant, but of the free woman.

1 John 3:1-2

1See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him. 2Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is.

Psalms 87:6

6The LORD will count, when he writes up the peoples, This one was born there.” Selah.

Genesis 31:15

15Aren’t we considered as foreigners by him? For he has sold us, and has also used up our money.

Psalms 22:30

30Posterity shall serve him. Future generations shall be told about the Lord.
