Psalms 81:14

⁸I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon; and I will turn my hand against Ekron; and the remnant of the Philistines will perish,” says the Lord^[+] GOD.

²⁰The LORD’s anger burned against Israel; and he said, “Because this nation transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not listened to my voice, ²¹I also will no longer drive out any of the nations that Joshua left when he died from before them; ²²that by them I may test Israel, to see if they will keep the LORD’s way to walk therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.” ²³So the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily. He didn’t deliver them into Joshua’s hand.

¹³know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no longer drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap to you, a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you.

⁹Only don’t rebel against the LORD, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them, and the LORD is with us. Don’t fear them.”

⁴⁵Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites who lived in that mountain, and struck them and beat them down even to Hormah.

³He subdues nations under us, and peoples under our feet.

⁷“Awake, sword, against my shepherd, and against the man who is close to me,” says the LORD of Armies. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn my hand against the little ones.
