Psalms 49:16

⁷Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.

²⁶and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it so that they may enter.

²⁴The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.

¹Don’t fret because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness.

¹Jacob heard Laban’s sons’ words, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s. He has obtained all this wealth from that which was our father’s.”

¹After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes who were with him. ²All the king’s servants who were in the king’s gate bowed down and paid homage to Haman, for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai didn’t bow down or pay him homage. ³Then the king’s servants who were in the king’s gate said to Mordecai, “Why do you disobey the king’s commandment?” ⁴Now it came to pass, when they spoke daily to him, and he didn’t listen to them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s reason would stand; for he had told them that he was a Jew. ⁵When Haman saw that Mordecai didn’t bow down nor pay him homage, Haman was full of wrath. ⁶But he scorned the thought of laying hands on Mordecai alone, for they had made known to him Mordecai’s people. Therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even Mordecai’s people.

⁵Why should I fear in the days of evil, when iniquity at my heels surrounds me?

¹¹Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, the multitude of his children, all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

¹²When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
