Psalms 38:3

²Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint. LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.

⁸Let me hear joy and gladness, that the bones which you have broken may rejoice.

⁹Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am in distress. My eye, my soul, and my body waste away with grief. ¹⁰For my life is spent with sorrow, my years with sighing. My strength fails because of my iniquity. My bones are wasted away.

⁴⁰Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD. ⁴¹Let’s lift up our heart with our hands to God ^[+] in the heavens. ⁴²“We have transgressed and have rebelled. You have not pardoned.

⁵Why should you be beaten more, that you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. ⁶From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it, but wounds, welts, and open sores. They haven’t been closed, bandaged, or soothed with oil.

⁵By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones stick to my skin.

¹⁹Then Uzziah was angry. He had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke out on his forehead before the priests in the LORD’s house, beside the altar of incense.

⁷So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD, and struck Job with painful sores from the sole of his foot to his head. ⁸He took for himself a potsherd to scrape himself with, and he sat among the ashes.

⁷For we are consumed in your anger. We are troubled in your wrath. ⁸You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.

¹⁹“He is chastened also with pain on his bed, with continual strife in his bones, ²⁰so that his life abhors bread, and his soul dainty food. ²¹His flesh is so consumed away that it can’t be seen. His bones that were not seen stick out. ²²Yes, his soul draws near to the pit, and his life to the destroyers.
