Psalms 36:11

⁸I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

¹¹Pour out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud, and bring him low. ¹²Look at everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.

²³I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to your soul, ‘Bow down, that we may walk over you;’ and you have laid your back as the ground, like a street to those who walk over.”

⁸⁵The proud have dug pits for me, contrary to your law.

⁶⁹The proud have smeared a lie upon me. With my whole heart, I will keep your precepts.

⁵¹The arrogant mock me excessively, but I don’t swerve from your law.

⁸Keep me as the apple of your eye. Hide me under the shadow of your wings, ⁹from the wicked who oppress me, my deadly enemies, who surround me. ¹⁰They close up their callous hearts. With their mouth they speak proudly. ¹¹They have now surrounded us in our steps. They set their eyes to cast us down to the earth. ¹²He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey, as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. ¹³Arise, LORD, confront him. Cast him down. Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword, ¹⁴from men by your hand, LORD, from men of the world, whose portion is in this life. You fill the belly of your cherished ones. Your sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.

³Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy on us, for we have endured much contempt. ⁴Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, with the contempt of the proud.

²In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.

¹²²Ensure your servant’s well-being. Don’t let the proud oppress me.
