Psalms 35:17

¹³You who have purer eyes than to see evil, and who cannot look on perversity, why do you tolerate those who deal treacherously and keep silent when the wicked swallows up the man who is more righteous than he,

²⁰Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog. ²¹Save me from the lion’s mouth! Yes, you have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen.

⁴My soul is among lions. I lie among those who are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

⁹We see no miraculous signs. There is no longer any prophet, neither is there among us anyone who knows how long. ¹⁰How long, God, shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme your name forever?

⁴⁶How long, LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? Will your wrath burn like fire?

³LORD, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph? ⁴They pour out arrogant words. All the evildoers boast.

⁶Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me. ⁷Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name. The righteous will surround me, for you will be good to me.

¹⁴Deliver me out of the mire, and don’t let me sink. Let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters. ¹⁵Don’t let the flood waters overwhelm me, neither let the deep swallow me up. Don’t let the pit shut its mouth on me.

¹How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? ²How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day? How long shall my enemy triumph over me?

³My soul is also in great anguish. But you, LORD—how long?
