Psalms 25:16

¹⁶Turn to me, and have mercy on me! Give your strength to your servant. Save the son of your servant.

¹⁷“Now therefore, our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his petitions, and cause your face to shine on your sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord’s sake.

¹⁹He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

¹⁴Deliver me out of the mire, and don’t let me sink. Let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters. ¹⁵Don’t let the flood waters overwhelm me, neither let the deep swallow me up. Don’t let the pit shut its mouth on me. ¹⁶Answer me, LORD, for your loving kindness is good. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, turn to me. ¹⁷Don’t hide your face from your servant, for I am in distress. Answer me speedily! ¹⁸Draw near to my soul and redeem it. Ransom me because of my enemies. ¹⁹You know my reproach, my shame, and my dishonor. My adversaries are all before you. ²⁰Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness. I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; for comforters, but I found none.

⁴Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me. My heart within me is desolate.

¹God, you have rejected us. You have broken us down. You have been angry. Restore us, again.

¹⁵I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up. While I suffer your terrors, I am distracted. ¹⁶Your fierce wrath has gone over me. Your terrors have cut me off. ¹⁷They came around me like water all day long. They completely engulfed me. ¹⁸You have put lover and friend far from me, and my friends into darkness.

³³When the sixth hour^[+] had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.^34[+] At the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is, being interpreted, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

³⁵Some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”
