Psalms 17:4

⁹How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. ¹⁰With my whole heart I have sought you. Don’t let me wander from your commandments. ¹¹I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

⁸Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

³for you are still fleshly. For insofar as there is jealousy, strife, and factions among you, aren’t you fleshly, and don’t you walk in the ways of men?

¹⁸Of his own will he gave birth to us by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

¹⁰Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me,^[+] Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”

⁴But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.’”

¹⁰For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. ¹¹Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you, ¹²to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things, ¹³who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness, ¹⁴who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil, ¹⁵who are crooked in their ways, and wayward in their paths,

¹¹They overcame him because of the Lamb’s blood, and because of the word of their testimony. They didn’t love their life, even to death.

¹⁷Sanctify them in your truth. Your word is truth.

¹The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt. They have done abominable deeds. There is no one who does good. ²The LORD looked down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there were any who understood, who sought after God. ³They have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is no one who does good, no, not one.
