Psalms 149:3

¹³Then the virgin will rejoice in the dance, the young men and the old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

²Raise a song, and bring here the tambourine, the pleasant lyre with the harp.

²⁰Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances.

¹⁶As the LORD’s ark came into David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out through the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.

²⁸Thus all Israel brought the ark of the LORD’s covenant up with shouting, with sound of the cornet, with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps. ²⁹As the ark of the LORD’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.

¹⁴David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was clothed in a linen ephod.

¹¹You have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,

³⁴Jephthah came to Mizpah to his house; and behold, his daughter came out to meet him with tambourines and with dances. She was his only child. Besides her he had neither son nor daughter.

³Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet! Praise him with harp and lyre! ⁴Praise him with tambourine and dancing! Praise him with stringed instruments and flute! ⁵Praise him with loud cymbals! Praise him with resounding cymbals!

²On the willows in that land, we hung up our harps. ³For there, those who led us captive asked us for songs. Those who tormented us demanded songs of joy: “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!” ⁴How can we sing the LORD’s song in a foreign land?
