Psalms 129:5

¹³Let my accusers be disappointed and consumed. Let them be covered with disgrace and scorn who want to harm me.

³⁵‘For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.’”

³It will happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all the peoples. All who burden themselves with it will be severely wounded, and all the nations of the earth will be gathered together against it.

⁴“Come,” they say, “let’s destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” ⁵For they have conspired together with one mind. They form an alliance against you. ⁶The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagrites; ⁷Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; ⁸Assyria also is joined with them. They have helped the children of Lot. Selah. ⁹Do to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon; ¹⁰who perished at Endor, who became as dung for the earth. ¹¹Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,

²²this is the word which the LORD has spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and ridiculed you. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.

¹³Haman recounted to Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him, but you will surely fall before him.”

¹²Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks.

¹¹Now many nations have assembled against you, that say, “Let her be defiled, and let our eye gloat over Zion.”

⁵The Jews struck all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and with slaughter and destruction, and did what they wanted to those who hated them.

¹⁴So the angel who talked with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘The LORD of Armies says: “I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy. ¹⁵I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, but they added to the calamity.” ¹⁶Therefore the LORD says: “I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house shall be built in it,” says the LORD of Armies, “and a line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.”’

¹⁷“Proclaim further, saying, ‘The LORD of Armies says: “My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and the LORD will again comfort Zion, and will again choose Jerusalem.”’”
