Psalms 119:50

⁴For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that through perseverance and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

⁶³It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

¹⁹In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.

⁷The LORD is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him.

¹¹Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God.

¹⁷In this way God, being determined to show more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath, ¹⁸that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us. ¹⁹This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil,

¹⁶Your words were found, and I ate them. Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by your name, LORD, God of Armies.

²⁵My soul is laid low in the dust. Revive me according to your word!

¹³I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

³Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; ⁴and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; ⁵and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
