Psalms 107:17

³⁹Why should a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

²²“How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?

¹The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt. They have done abominable deeds. There is no one who does good.

¹LORD, don’t rebuke me in your wrath, neither chasten me in your hot displeasure. ²For your arrows have pierced me, your hand presses hard on me. ³There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation, neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin. ⁴For my iniquities have gone over my head. As a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me. ⁵My wounds are loathsome and corrupt because of my foolishness. ⁶I am in pain and bowed down greatly. I go mourning all day long. ⁷For my waist is filled with burning. There is no soundness in my flesh. ⁸I am faint and severely bruised. I have groaned by reason of the anguish of my heart.

⁶A senseless man doesn’t know, neither does a fool understand this:

⁵The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”

⁶The LORD sent venomous snakes among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel died. ⁷The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.

⁸The LORD said to Moses, “Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” ⁹Moses made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.

³³While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the LORD’s anger burned against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague. ³⁴The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah,^[+] because there they buried the people who lusted.

¹⁹“^[+] Your own wickedness will correct you, and your backsliding will rebuke you. Know therefore and see that it is an evil and bitter thing, that you have forsaken the LORD your God, and that my fear is not in you,” says the Lord, GOD ^[+] of Armies.

⁷I saw among the simple ones. I discerned among the youths a young man void of understanding,

¹⁷I was angry because of the iniquity of his covetousness and struck him. I hid myself and was angry; and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart. ¹⁸I have seen his ways, and will heal him. I will lead him also, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.
