Proverbs 8:29

⁹You have set a boundary that they may not pass over, that they don’t turn again to cover the earth.

²²Don’t you fear me?’ says the LORD; ‘Won’t you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it can’t pass it? Though its waves toss themselves, yet they can’t prevail. Though they roar, they still can’t pass over it.’

⁹God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear;” and it was so. ¹⁰God called the dry land “earth”, and the gathering together of the waters he called “seas”. God saw that it was good.

⁴“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you have understanding. ⁵Who determined its measures, if you know? Or who stretched the line on it? ⁶What were its foundations fastened on? Or who laid its cornerstone, ⁷when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? ⁸“Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke out of the womb, ⁹when I made clouds its garment, and wrapped it in thick darkness, ¹⁰marked out for it my bound, set bars and doors, ¹¹and said, ‘You may come here, but no further. Your proud waves shall be stopped here’?

⁷He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap. He lays up the deeps in storehouses.

⁵He laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved forever.
