Proverbs 18:9

⁴He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.

¹²that you won’t be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and perseverance inherited the promises.

³⁰I went by the field of the sluggard, by the vineyard of the man void of understanding. ³¹Behold, it was all grown over with thorns. Its surface was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. ³²Then I saw, and considered well. I saw, and received instruction: ³³a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep, ³⁴so your poverty will come as a robber and your want as an armed man.

²⁰Don’t be among ones drinking too much wine, or those who gorge themselves on meat; ²¹for the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor; and drowsiness clothes them in rags.

²⁶“But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter.

²⁴Whoever robs his father or his mother and says, “It’s not wrong,” is a partner with a destroyer.

¹¹not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord,

¹He also said to his disciples, “There was a certain rich man who had a manager. An accusation was made to him that this man was wasting his possessions. ²He called him, and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’

¹³Not many days after, the younger son gathered all of this together and traveled into a far country. There he wasted his property with riotous living. ¹⁴When he had spent all of it, there arose a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in need.

²⁹I am a brother to jackals, and a companion to ostriches.
