Proverbs 14:27

⁶He said to me, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.

¹⁴The teaching of the wise is a spring of life, to turn from the snares of death.

¹⁰For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. ¹¹Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you, ¹²to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things, ¹³who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness, ¹⁴who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil, ¹⁵who are crooked in their ways, and wayward in their paths, ¹⁶to deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words, ¹⁷who forsakes the friend of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God; ¹⁸for her house leads down to death, her paths to the departed spirits.

⁶There will be stability in your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of the LORD is your treasure.

⁵The cords of Sheol^[+] were around me. The snares of death came on me.

⁵Thorns and snares are in the path of the wicked; whoever guards his soul stays far from them.

²⁶I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and traps, whose hands are chains. Whoever pleases God shall escape from her; but the sinner will be ensnared by her.
