Proverbs 11:9

¹⁰For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. ¹¹Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you, ¹²to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things, ¹³who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness, ¹⁴who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil, ¹⁵who are crooked in their ways, and wayward in their paths, ¹⁶to deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words,

⁵Get wisdom. Get understanding. Don’t forget, and don’t deviate from the words of my mouth. ⁶Don’t forsake her, and she will preserve you. Love her, and she will keep you.

²⁷As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him.

¹⁶as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those, there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. ¹⁷You therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware, lest being carried away with the error of the wicked, you fall from your own steadfastness. ¹⁸But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

²⁰He raises his hands against his friends. He has violated his covenant. ²¹His mouth was smooth as butter, but his heart was war. His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

¹²For it was not an enemy who insulted me, then I could have endured it. Neither was it he who hated me who raised himself up against me, then I would have hidden myself from him.

³⁰Men will arise from among your own selves, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

¹³For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as Christ’s apostles. ¹⁴And no wonder, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light. ¹⁵It is no great thing therefore if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

¹But false prophets also arose among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction. ²Many will follow their immoral^[+] ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned. ³In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old doesn’t linger, and their destruction will not slumber.

¹³So are the paths of all who forget God. The hope of the godless man will perish,
