Proverbs 11:28

¹⁷Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;

⁸For he will be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be concerned in the year of drought. It won’t cease from yielding fruit.

⁷“Behold, this is the man who didn’t make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.” ⁸But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in God’s house. I trust in God’s loving kindness forever and ever.

³He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.

¹²The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree. He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. ¹³They are planted in the LORD’s house. They will flourish in our God’s courts. ¹⁴They will still produce fruit in old age. They will be full of sap and green,

²⁴The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answered again, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter into God’s Kingdom! ²⁵It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

¹⁰Don’t trust in oppression. Don’t become vain in robbery. If riches increase, don’t set your heart on them.

¹²lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses and lived in them; ¹³and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; ¹⁴then your heart might be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

⁶Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches—

²¹Then your people will all be righteous. They will inherit the land forever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.
