Nehemiah 3:5

²⁷After him the Tekoites repaired another portion, opposite the great tower that stands out, and to the wall of Ophel.

²Joab sent to Tekoa and brought a wise woman from there, and said to her, “Please act like a mourner, and put on mourning clothing, please, and don’t anoint yourself with oil; but be as a woman who has mourned a long time for the dead.

¹²I spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, “Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

²⁹Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.

⁴Then I said, “Surely these are poor. They are foolish; for they don’t know the LORD’s way, nor the law of their God. ⁵I will go to the great men and will speak to them, for they know the way of the LORD, and the law of their God.” But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

²³‘Curse Meroz,’ said the LORD’s angel. ‘Curse bitterly its inhabitants, because they didn’t come to help the LORD, to help the LORD against the mighty.’

²the LORD says to me: “Make bonds and bars, and put them on your neck.

²⁶For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble;

⁸It will come to pass in that day, says the LORD of Armies, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and will burst your bonds. Strangers will no more make them their bondservants; ⁹but they will serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them.

¹⁰Now therefore why do you tempt God, that you should put a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
