Mark 6:24

²and say, ‘What was your mother? A lioness. She couched among lions, in the middle of the young lions she nourished her cubs. ³She brought up one of her cubs. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.

⁸Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command you. ⁹Go now to the flock and get me two good young goats from there. I will make them savory food for your father, such as he loves. ¹⁰You shall bring it to your father, that he may eat, so that he may bless you before his death.”

¹¹Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, “Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man.

³He also walked in the ways of Ahab’s house, because his mother was his counselor in acting wickedly. ⁴He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, as did Ahab’s house, for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.

³¹if the men of my tent have not said, ‘Who can find one who has not been filled with his meat?’

²When evildoers came at me to eat up my flesh, even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

¹⁴The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to kill those who are upright on the path.

¹²The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth.

³A stone is heavy, and sand is a burden; but a fool’s provocation is heavier than both. ⁴Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; but who is able to stand before jealousy?

⁸She, being prompted by her mother, said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptizer.”

¹²When it was day, some of the Jews banded together and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul. ¹³There were more than forty people who had made this conspiracy.
