Mark 14:11

¹⁰For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

²⁶He said to him, “Didn’t my heart go with you when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves and vineyards, and sheep and cattle, and male servants and female servants?

²¹To show partiality is not good, yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread. ²²A stingy man hurries after riches, and doesn’t know that poverty waits for him.

¹⁴having eyes full of adultery, and who can’t cease from sin, enticing unsettled souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children! ¹⁵Forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wrongdoing;

¹¹Woe to them! For they went in the way of Cain, and ran riotously in the error of Balaam for hire, and perished in Korah’s rebellion.

⁵They were glad, and agreed to give him money. ⁶He consented and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.

²⁰Ahab said to Elijah, “Have you found me, my enemy?” He answered, “I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do that which is evil in the LORD’s sight.

³They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

¹⁵and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him to you?” So they weighed out for him thirty pieces of silver.

¹⁰My son, if sinners entice you, don’t consent. ¹¹If they say, “Come with us. Let’s lie in wait for blood. Let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause. ¹²Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol,^[+] and whole, like those who go down into the pit. ¹³We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder. ¹⁴You shall cast your lot among us. We’ll all have one purse”— ¹⁵my son, don’t walk on the path with them. Keep your foot from their path, ¹⁶for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.
