Matthew 6:32

⁸Therefore don’t be like them, for your Father knows what things you need before you ask him.

³⁰For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things.

¹⁷This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,

¹¹“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won’t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? ¹²Or if he asks for an egg, he won’t give him a scorpion, will he? ¹³If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

¹⁴from men by your hand, LORD, from men of the world, whose portion is in this life. You fill the belly of your cherished ones. Your sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.

²⁵But Jesus summoned them, and said, “You know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. ²⁶It shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be^[+] your servant.

⁵not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God,

¹³Like a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.

⁴⁶For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same? ⁴⁷If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors^[+] do the same?
