Matthew 5:14

¹⁵that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without defect in the middle of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world,

^12[+] Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world.He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

⁸For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, ⁹for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth, ¹⁰proving what is well pleasing to the Lord. ¹¹Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. ¹²For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. ¹³But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light. ¹⁴Therefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

⁵You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,

¹⁸But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light that shines more and more until the perfect day.

³⁶While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.” Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.

¹⁴Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?

¹⁹and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, ²⁰a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babies, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.

³⁵He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.

¹⁴The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.

¹⁵He who spoke with me had for a measure a golden reed to measure the city, its gates, and its walls. ¹⁶The city is square. Its length is as great as its width. He measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand twelve stadia.^[+] Its length, width, and height are equal. ¹⁷Its wall is one hundred forty-four cubits,^[+] by the measure of a man, that is, of an angel. ¹⁸The construction of its wall was jasper. The city was pure gold, like pure glass. ¹⁹The foundations of the city’s wall were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire,^[+] the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, ²⁰the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. ²¹The twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each one of the gates was made of one pearl. The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

²²I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. ²³The city has no need for the sun or moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it and its lamp is the Lamb. ²⁴The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it. ²⁵Its gates will in no way be shut by day (for there will be no night there), ²⁶and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it so that they may enter. ²⁷There will in no way enter into it anything profane, or one who causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
