Matthew 5:1

¹³He went up into the mountain and called to himself those whom he wanted, and they went to him.

²⁹Jesus departed from there and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up on the mountain and sat there.

¹Again he began to teach by the seaside. A great multitude was gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat in the sea and sat down. All the multitude were on the land by the sea.

²A great multitude followed him, because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick. ³Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples.

²⁰The multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.

²⁵Great multitudes from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan followed him.

²Now the names of the twelve apostles are these. The first, Simon, who is called Peter; Andrew, his brother; James the son of Zebedee; John, his brother; ³Philip; Bartholomew; Thomas; Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus; Lebbaeus, who was also called^[+] Thaddaeus; ⁴Simon the Zealot; and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

¹³When it was day, he called his disciples, and from them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles: ¹⁴Simon, whom he also named Peter; Andrew, his brother; James; John; Philip; Bartholomew; ¹⁵Matthew; Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus; Simon who was called the Zealot; ¹⁶Judas the son of James; and Judas Iscariot, who also became a traitor.

¹⁸Walking by the sea of Galilee, he^[+] saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. ¹⁹He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.”

²⁰They immediately left their nets and followed him. ²¹Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them. ²²They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.

²Great multitudes gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat and sat; and all the multitude stood on the beach.
