Matthew 19:8

¹³“This again you do: you cover the LORD’s altar with tears, with weeping, and with sighing, because he doesn’t regard the offering any more, neither receives it with good will at your hand. ¹⁴Yet you say, ‘Why?’ Because the LORD has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your companion and the wife of your covenant.

²⁴Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.

⁵But Jesus said to them, “For your hardness of heart, he wrote you this commandment.

¹²Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the law and the words which the LORD of Armies had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from the LORD of Armies.

¹⁶The LORD says, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, ‘Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

¹⁵But Jesus, answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.

⁶But this I say by way of concession, not of commandment.

⁷Noah went into the ship with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, because of the floodwaters.

⁸Don’t harden your heart, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness,

³¹The demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs.”
