Matthew 16:7

¹⁶They reasoned with one another, saying, “It’s because we have no bread.”

¹⁷Jesus, perceiving it, said to them, “Why do you reason that it’s because you have no bread? Don’t you perceive yet or understand? Is your heart still hardened? ¹⁸Having eyes, don’t you see? Having ears, don’t you hear? Don’t you remember?

⁴⁶An argument arose among them about which of them was the greatest.

¹⁴But Peter said, “Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”

¹⁰They kept this saying to themselves, questioning what the “rising from the dead” meant.

¹⁶So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand? ¹⁷Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly and then out of the body? ¹⁸But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.
