Luke 8:38

¹⁸As he was entering into the boat, he who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him. ¹⁹He didn’t allow him, but said to him, “Go to your house, to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he had mercy on you.”

²⁰He went his way, and began to proclaim in Decapolis how Jesus had done great things for him, and everyone marveled.

¹³But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he did to your saints at Jerusalem. ¹⁴Here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.”

¹⁵But the Lord said to him, “Go your way, for he is my chosen vessel to bear my name before the nations and kings, and the children of Israel. ¹⁶For I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name’s sake.”

³Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised! His greatness is unsearchable. ⁴One generation will commend your works to another, and will declare your mighty acts. ⁵I will meditate on the glorious majesty of your honor, on your wondrous works. ⁶Men will speak of the might of your awesome acts. I will declare your greatness. ⁷They will utter the memory of your great goodness, and will sing of your righteousness. ⁸The LORD is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and of great loving kindness. ⁹The LORD is good to all. His tender mercies are over all his works. ¹⁰All your works will give thanks to you, LORD. Your saints will extol you. ¹¹They will speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk about your power, ¹²to make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, the glory of the majesty of his kingdom.

²⁰You shall fear the LORD your God. You shall serve him. You shall cling to him, and you shall swear by his name. ²¹He is your praise, and he is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things which your eyes have seen.

⁷You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.

¹²What will I give to the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

²³But I am hard pressed between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

³⁷All the people of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes asked him to depart from them, for they were very much afraid. Then he entered into the boat and returned.

²⁸When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, “What do I have to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torment me!”

¹⁷God, you have taught me from my youth. Until now, I have declared your wondrous works. ¹⁸Yes, even when I am old and gray-haired, God, don’t forsake me, until I have declared your strength to the next generation, your might to everyone who is to come.
