Luke 14:1

²They watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him.

⁶If he comes to see me, he speaks falsehood. His heart gathers iniquity to itself. When he goes abroad, he tells it.

²⁰They watched him and sent out spies, who pretended to be righteous, that they might trap him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the power and authority of the governor.

⁵They encourage themselves in evil plans. They talk about laying snares secretly. They say, “Who will see them?” ⁶They plot injustice, saying, “We have made a perfect plan!” Surely man’s mind and heart are cunning.

³⁷Now as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him. He went in and sat at the table.

⁴They fully intend to throw him down from his lofty place. They delight in lies. They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

⁵³As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him, ⁵⁴lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.

⁷The scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an accusation against him.

⁷for as he thinks about the cost, so he is. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.

¹⁰For I have heard the defaming of many: “Terror on every side! Denounce, and we will denounce him!” say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall. “Perhaps he will be persuaded, and we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him.” ¹¹But the LORD is with me as an awesome mighty one. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and they won’t prevail. They will be utterly disappointed because they have not dealt wisely, even with an everlasting dishonor which will never be forgotten.
