Jonah 1:6

⁹Who knows whether God will not turn and relent, and turn away from his fierce anger, so that we might not perish?”

²⁸Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress. ²⁹He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still.

²²He said, “While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, ‘Who knows whether the LORD will not be gracious to me, that the child may live?’

³⁷A big wind storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so much that the boat was already filled. ³⁸He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him up and asked him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are dying?”

³⁹He awoke and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was a great calm. ⁴⁰He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”

⁴¹They were greatly afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

¹⁴Therefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

¹²Therefore he brought down their heart with labor. They fell down, and there was no one to help. ¹³Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

¹³Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

¹⁵Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that the LORD, the God of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”

³⁴When he killed them, then they inquired after him. They returned and sought God earnestly.

⁶Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
