Job 33:23

¹“Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me! The Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple. Behold, the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, is coming!” says the LORD of Armies.

²⁰We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

²⁸which my soul still seeks, but I have not found. I have found one man among a thousand, but I have not found a woman among all those.

⁷For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of the LORD of Armies.

¹³Then Haggai, the LORD’s messenger, spoke the LORD’s message to the people, saying, “I am with you,” says the LORD.

⁵You have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children, “My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him; ⁶for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and chastises every son whom he receives.”

⁷It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline? ⁸But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not children. ⁹Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? ¹⁰For they indeed for a few days disciplined us as seemed good to them, but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness. ¹¹All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. ¹²Therefore lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees,

²²It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies don’t fail. ²³They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

⁸If they are bound in fetters, and are taken in the cords of afflictions, ⁹then he shows them their work, and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly. ¹⁰He also opens their ears to instruction, and commands that they return from iniquity. ¹¹If they listen and serve him, they will spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. ¹²But if they don’t listen, they will perish by the sword; they will die without knowledge. ¹³“But those who are godless in heart lay up anger. They don’t cry for help when he binds them.

³I will get my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

⁷⁵LORD, I know that your judgments are righteous, that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
