Job 27:19

²⁴They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone. Yes, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all others, and are cut off as the tops of the ears of grain.

⁹Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns, he will sweep away the green and the burning alike.

²They will spread them before the sun, the moon, and all the army of the sky, which they have loved, which they have served, after which they have walked, which they have sought, and which they have worshiped. They will not be gathered or be buried. They will be like dung on the surface of the earth.

¹⁹How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors. ²⁰As a dream when one wakes up, so, Lord,^[+] when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.

³⁷“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!

⁷yet he will perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’ ⁸He will fly away as a dream, and will not be found. Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night. ⁹The eye which saw him will see him no more, neither will his place see him any more.

¹⁰But man dies, and is laid low. Yes, man gives up the spirit, and where is he?

¹⁰The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. The obedience of the peoples will be to him.

²³One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet. ²⁴His pails are full of milk. The marrow of his bones is moistened. ²⁵Another dies in bitterness of soul, and never tastes of good. ²⁶They lie down alike in the dust. The worm covers them.

⁸The eye of him who sees me will see me no more. Your eyes will be on me, but I will not be.
