Job 24:1

⁷He said to them, “It isn’t for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.

¹⁷I said in my heart, “God will judge the righteous and the wicked; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.”

⁶For there is a time and procedure for every purpose, although the misery of man is heavy on him. ⁷For he doesn’t know that which will be; for who can tell him how it will be?

⁷But the heavens that exist now and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

⁸But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

³⁸For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ship,

¹⁶When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me— ¹⁷until I entered God’s sanctuary, and considered their latter end. ¹⁸Surely you set them in slippery places. You throw them down to destruction. ¹⁹How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors.

¹⁰Oh continue your loving kindness to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart.

¹⁰Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.

⁵But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God,

¹¹I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all. ¹²For man also doesn’t know his time. As the fish that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare, even so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly on them.
