Job 22:11

⁵⁴Waters flowed over my head. I said, “I am cut off.”

¹Save me, God, for the waters have come up to my neck! ²I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold. I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

³For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.

⁴then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul. ⁵Then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.

⁸He has walled up my way so that I can’t pass, and has set darkness in my paths.

²A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. As the dawn spreading on the mountains, a great and strong people; there has never been the like, neither will there be any more after them, even to the years of many generations. ³A fire devours before them, and behind them, a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them, a desolate wilderness. Yes, and no one has escaped them.

²He has led me and caused me to walk in darkness, and not in light.

¹⁴They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope at noonday as in the night.

³⁴“Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover you?

¹⁹The way of the wicked is like darkness. They don’t know what they stumble over.
