Job 21:21

⁵Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his bounds that he can’t pass.

¹⁸I hated all my labor in which I labored under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who comes after me. ¹⁹Who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will have rule over all of my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

²⁷“He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house— ²⁸for I have five brothers—that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’

²⁴I said, “My God, don’t take me away in the middle of my days. Your years are throughout all generations.

²¹His sons come to honor, and he doesn’t know it. They are brought low, but he doesn’t perceive it of them.

²³But you, God, will bring them down into the pit of destruction. Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days, but I will trust in you.
