John 7:34

²⁴Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention; ²⁵but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof; ²⁶I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you, ²⁷when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you. ²⁸Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me, ²⁹because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of the LORD. ³⁰They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof. ³¹Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.

³³Little children, I will be with you a little while longer. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come,’ so now I tell you. ³⁴A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another. ³⁵By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

³⁶Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you can’t follow now, but you will follow afterwards.”

³⁴“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and you refused! ³⁵Behold, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

²⁴Father, I desire that they also whom you have given me be with me where I am, that they may see my glory which you have given me, for you loved me before the foundation of the world.

⁶Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

²¹Jesus said therefore again to them, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you can’t come.”

²²The Jews therefore said, “Will he kill himself, because he says, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come’?”

²³He said to them, “You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world. ²⁴I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am^[+] he, you will die in your sins.”

³If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.

⁶They will go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD, but they won’t find him. He has withdrawn himself from them.

²⁴“Strive to enter in by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter in and will not be able. ²⁵When once the master of the house has risen up and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ then he will answer and tell you, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’

²²He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. ²³They will tell you, ‘Look, here!’ or ‘Look, there!’ Don’t go away or follow after them,
