John 6:14

¹⁵The LORD your God will raise up to you a prophet from among you, of your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him. ¹⁶This is according to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, “Let me not hear again the LORD my God’s voice, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I not die.”

¹⁷The LORD said to me, “They have well said that which they have spoken. ¹⁸I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you. I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.

¹¹The multitudes said, “This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”

³⁷This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The Lord our God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me.’

³and said to him, “Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?”

⁴⁰Many of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, “This is truly the prophet.”

²¹They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered, “No.”

²²For Moses indeed said to the fathers, ‘The Lord God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him in all things whatever he says to you. ²³It will be that every soul that will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.’²⁴Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed after, as many as have spoken, also told of these days.

¹⁰The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. The obedience of the peoples will be to him.

²⁵The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming, he who is called Christ.^[+] When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”

¹⁹The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
