Jeremiah 5:10

²⁷For the LORD says, “The whole land will be a desolation; yet I will not make a full end.

⁶¹and delivered his strength into captivity, his glory into the adversary’s hand. ⁶²He also gave his people over to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance.

⁹He said, “Call his name Lo-Ammi,^[+] for you are not my people, and I will not be yours.

⁷When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

¹⁶But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they come. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’”

⁸Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the surface of the earth, except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” says the LORD.

⁸The Chaldeans burned the king’s house and the people’s houses with fire and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.

⁵Alas Assyrian, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation! ⁶I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people who anger me I will give him a command to take the plunder and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. ⁷However, he doesn’t mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off not a few nations.

⁹behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,” says the LORD, “and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations around. I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

¹⁷“Or if I bring a sword on that land, and say, ‘Sword, go through the land, so that I cut off from it man and animal’—
