Jeremiah 17:17

⁷The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him.

¹⁹LORD, my strength, my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the nations will come to you from the ends of the earth, and will say, “Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, vanity and things in which there is no profit.

¹⁶But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, a refuge in the day of my distress.

¹⁵I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up. While I suffer your terrors, I am distracted. ¹⁶Your fierce wrath has gone over me. Your terrors have cut me off.

²³For calamity from God is a terror to me. Because of his majesty, I can do nothing.

²In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord. My hand was stretched out in the night, and didn’t get tired. My soul refused to be comforted. ³I remember God, and I groan. I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed. Selah. ⁴You hold my eyelids open. I am so troubled that I can’t speak. ⁵I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. ⁶I remember my song in the night. I consider in my own heart; my spirit diligently inquires: ⁷“Will the Lord reject us forever? Will he be favorable no more? ⁸Has his loving kindness vanished forever? Does his promise fail for generations? ⁹Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he, in anger, withheld his compassion?” Selah.

¹Blessed is he who considers the poor. The LORD will deliver him in the day of evil.

⁷“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose confidence is in the LORD.

¹³LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be disappointed. Those who depart from me will be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the spring of living waters.

¹³Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
