Isaiah 58:10

²⁴There is one who scatters, and increases yet more. There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty. ²⁵The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.

¹⁶I will bring the blind by a way that they don’t know. I will lead them in paths that they don’t know. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. I will do these things, and I will not forsake them.

⁶he will make your righteousness shine out like light, and your justice as the noon day sun.

⁷Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh? ⁸Then your light will break out as the morning, and your healing will appear quickly; then your righteousness shall go before you, and the LORD’s glory will be your rear guard.

¹⁷Life will be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it will be as the morning.

⁷If a poor man, one of your brothers, is with you within any of your gates in your land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother; ⁸but you shall surely open your hand to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, which he lacks. ⁹Beware that there not be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, “The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,” and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing; and he cry to the LORD against you, and it be sin to you. ¹⁰You shall surely give, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because it is for this thing the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you put your hand to.

²²When Jesus heard these things, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”

⁵It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment. ⁶For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever. ⁷He will not be afraid of evil news. His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. ⁸His heart is established. He will not be afraid in the end when he sees his adversaries. ⁹He has dispersed, he has given to the poor. His righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted with honor.

³¹He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.

²⁷One who gives to the poor has no lack; but one who closes his eyes will have many curses.
