Isaiah 53:8

³³In his humiliation, his judgment was taken away. Who will declare His generation? For his life is taken from the earth.”

¹⁸Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit,

⁷The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.”

⁶⁵Then the high priest tore his clothing, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy. ⁶⁶What do you think?” They answered, “He is worthy of death!”

⁴⁹But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, ⁵⁰nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.” ⁵¹Now he didn’t say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, ⁵²and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.

¹²Many bulls have surrounded me. Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me. ¹³They open their mouths wide against me, lions tearing prey and roaring. ¹⁴I am poured out like water. All my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax. It is melted within me. ¹⁵My strength is dried up like a potsherd. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have brought me into the dust of death. ¹⁶For dogs have surrounded me. A company of evildoers have enclosed me. They have pierced my hands and feet.^17[+] I can count all of my bones. They look and stare at me. ¹⁸They divide my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing. ¹⁹But don’t be far off, LORD. You are my help. Hurry to help me! ²⁰Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog. ²¹Save me from the lion’s mouth! Yes, you have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen.

¹²Therefore I will give him a portion with the great. He will divide the plunder with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was counted with the transgressors; yet he bore the sins of many and made intercession for the transgressors.

²⁶After the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One^[+] will be cut off, and will have nothing. The people of the prince who come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will be with a flood, and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined.

⁵But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed.

⁴who was declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,
