Isaiah 38:18

¹⁰Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor plan, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol,^[+] where you are going.

⁹“What profit is there in my destruction, if I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? Shall it declare your truth?

⁵For in death there is no memory of you. In Sheol,^[+] who shall give you thanks?

¹⁷The dead don’t praise the LORD,^[+] nor any who go down into silence, ¹⁸but we will bless the LORD,^[+] from this time forward and forever more. Praise the LORD!

¹⁰Do you show wonders to the dead? Do the departed spirits rise up and praise you? Selah. ¹¹Is your loving kindness declared in the grave? Or your faithfulness in Destruction?

³³So they, and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol.^[+] The earth closed on them, and they perished from among the assembly.

⁴⁶These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

³²The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.

²⁶Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that no one may cross over from there to us.’

²⁷“He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house— ²⁸for I have five brothers—that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’

²⁹“But Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’

³⁰“He said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

³¹“He said to him, ‘If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”

¹²but the children of the Kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
