Genesis 8:22

⁷Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain.

¹⁶The day is yours, the night is also yours. You have prepared the light and the sun. ¹⁷You have set all the boundaries of the earth. You have made summer and winter.

²⁴They don’t say in their heart, ‘Let’s now fear the LORD our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season, who preserves to us the appointed weeks of the harvest.’

³⁵The LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, so that its waves roar— the LORD of Armies is his name, says:

¹¹For behold, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone. ¹²The flowers appear on the earth. The time of the singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.

²⁰“The LORD says: ‘If you can break my covenant of the day and my covenant of the night, so that there will not be day and night in their time, ²¹then my covenant could also be broken with David my servant, that he won’t have a son to reign on his throne; and with the Levitical priests, my ministers. ²²As the army of the sky can’t be counted, and the sand of the sea can’t be measured, so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant and the Levites who minister to me.’”

²³The LORD’s word came to Jeremiah, saying, ²⁴“Don’t consider what this people has spoken, saying, ‘Has the LORD cast off the two families which he chose?’ Thus they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.” ²⁵The LORD says: “If my covenant of day and night fails, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth, ²⁶then I will also cast away the offspring of Jacob, and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his offspring to be rulers over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; for I will cause their captivity to be reversed and will have mercy on them.”

⁸In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting loving kindness I will have mercy on you,” says the LORD your Redeemer. ⁹“For this is like the waters of Noah to me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah will no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.

²¹“Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest: in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.

⁶For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are yet five years, in which there will be no plowing and no harvest.
