Genesis 37:9

⁹“The patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold him into Egypt. God was with him ¹⁰and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. He made him governor over Egypt and all his house. ¹¹Now a famine came over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction. Our fathers found no food. ¹²But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers the first time. ¹³On the second time Joseph was made known to his brothers, and Joseph’s family was revealed to Pharaoh. ¹⁴Joseph sent and summoned Jacob his father and all his relatives, seventy-five souls.

¹⁰It grew great, even to the army of the sky; and it cast down some of the army and of the stars to the ground and trampled on them.

⁷for behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and behold, your sheaves came around, and bowed down to my sheaf.”

²⁵Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dream of Pharaoh is one. What God is about to do he has declared to Pharaoh.

²⁹Joseph prepared his chariot, and went up to meet Israel, his father, in Goshen. He presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.

¹⁵that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without defect in the middle of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world,

¹²Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all of his father’s household with bread, according to the sizes of their families.

¹⁵When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully pay us back for all the evil which we did to him.” ¹⁶They sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father commanded before he died, saying, ¹⁷‘You shall tell Joseph, “Now please forgive the disobedience of your brothers, and their sin, because they did evil to you.”’ Now, please forgive the disobedience of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him. ¹⁸His brothers also went and fell down before his face; and they said, “Behold, we are your servants.” ¹⁹Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for am I in the place of God? ²⁰As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive, as is happening today. ²¹Now therefore don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your little ones.” He comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.

²⁸They said, “Your servant, our father, is well. He is still alive.” They bowed down humbly.

¹⁹My lord asked his servants, saying, ‘Have you a father, or a brother?’
