Genesis 37:27

²⁶For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?

²¹They said to one another, “We are certainly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he begged us, and we wouldn’t listen. Therefore this distress has come upon us.”

¹⁷Saul said to David, “Behold, my elder daughter Merab. I will give her to you as wife. Only be valiant for me, and fight the LORD’s battles.” For Saul said, “Don’t let my hand be on him, but let the hand of the Philistines be on him.”

¹⁴Laban said to him, “Surely you are my bone and my flesh.” Jacob stayed with him for a month.

¹⁵and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him to you?” So they weighed out for him thirty pieces of silver.

²¹Notwithstanding, if his servant gets up after a day or two, he shall not be punished, for the servant is his property.

¹³and cinnamon, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, chariots, and people’s bodies and souls.

⁹Why have you despised the LORD’s word, to do that which is evil in his sight? You have struck Uriah the Hittite with the sword, have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

⁸I said to them, “We, after our ability, have redeemed our brothers the Jews that were sold to the nations; and would you even sell your brothers, and should they be sold to us?” Then they held their peace, and found not a word to say.

¹⁶“Anyone who kidnaps someone and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
