Genesis 34:25

⁵“Simeon and Levi are brothers. Their swords are weapons of violence. ⁶My soul, don’t come into their council. My glory, don’t be united to their assembly; for in their anger they killed men. In their self-will they hamstrung cattle. ⁷Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel. I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

³³She conceived again, and bore a son, and said, “Because the LORD has heard that I am hated, he has therefore given me this son also.” She named him Simeon. ³⁴She conceived again, and bore a son. She said, “Now this time my husband will be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.

⁸When they were done circumcising the whole nation, they stayed in their places in the camp until they were healed.

⁷They fought against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses. They killed every male.

¹⁶For they don’t sleep unless they do evil. Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall.

³⁴For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won’t spare in the day of vengeance. ³⁵He won’t regard any ransom, neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.

¹⁷Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him.

⁶For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness until all the nation, even the men of war who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they didn’t listen to the LORD’s voice. The LORD swore to them that he wouldn’t let them see the land which the LORD swore to their fathers that he would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

²⁵But Hezekiah didn’t reciprocate appropriate to the benefit done for him, because his heart was lifted up. Therefore there was wrath on him, Judah, and Jerusalem.
