Genesis 28:22

⁷He built an altar there, and called the place El Beth El; because there God was revealed to him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

²⁰Blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave him a tenth of all.

²²You shall surely tithe all the increase of your seed, that which comes out of the field year by year. ²³You shall eat before the LORD your God, in the place which he chooses to cause his name to dwell, the tithe of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock; that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.

³⁰“‘All the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the LORD’s. It is holy to the LORD. ³¹If a man redeems anything of his tithe, he shall add a fifth part to it. ³²All the tithe of the herds or the flocks, whatever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to the LORD. ³³He shall not examine whether it is good or bad, neither shall he exchange it. If he exchanges it at all, then both it and that for which it is exchanged shall be holy. It shall not be redeemed.’”

¹God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

¹⁷He was afraid, and said, “How awesome this place is! This is none other than God’s house, and this is the gate of heaven.”

¹⁴Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he spoke with him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink offering on it, and poured oil on it. ¹⁵Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him “Bethel”.

²⁰He erected an altar there, and called it El Elohe Israel.

⁸He left from there to go to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the LORD^[+] and called on the LORD’s name.

³³Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the LORD,^[+] the Everlasting God.
