Genesis 25:21

²³So we fasted and begged our God for this, and he granted our request.

¹³But the angel said to him, “Don’t be afraid, Zacharias, because your request has been heard. Your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

⁹Then you will call, and the LORD will answer. You will cry for help, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away from among you the yoke, finger pointing, and speaking wickedly;

¹³He prayed to him; and he was entreated by him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God.

¹⁰Not only so, but Rebekah also conceived by one, by our father Isaac. ¹¹For being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him who calls,^12[+] it was said to her, “The elder will serve the younger.”

²⁷I prayed for this child, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

²Abram said, “Lord^[+] GOD, what will you give me, since I go childless, and he who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” ³Abram said, “Behold, you have given no children to me: and, behold, one born in my house is my heir.”

²⁰They were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them; for they cried to God in the battle, and he answered them because they put their trust in him.

⁷But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.

²⁴What the wicked fear will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
